Bookstores are starting to reopen. Let’s spread the word about the book that the Palm Beach ArtsPaper calls the next “Homeland” and WeAreTheMighty.com says is “one of the best espionage thrillers...in years.” As of this writing, Sandblast has eighteen reviews on Amazon, ALL Five Stars. It’s been a crazy six weeks since the launch on March 31, but I don’t have to tell you that. It’s hard to believe the publication date is now in the past, after so many years leading up to it. Launching into the teeth of the pandemic was not the best bit of timing I’ve had in my life, with all the bookstores and libraries closed. But Sandblast has gotten some great reviews and I’ve had some really nice publicity from interviews and articles I’ve placed in various magazines and websites.
Many people have been kind enough to say they can’t wait for the sequel. I can tell you that Blowback, is nearly, nearly, nearly done. I’ve written some revisions that I think deepen the story and the characters, based in part on recommendations from my critique group and beta-readers. I’m working out final points with Michaela Hamilton, my editor at Kensington Publishing. And we should go to the typesetting process on schedule next month. (Do they still call it typesetting, or did I just date myself sometime in the 1950s?)
Meanwhile, I’m about 10% of the way through Draft One of Book Three in the Task Force Epsilon series. Unfortunately, that’s well behind where I’d like to be. Blame pandemic blues. But I have a great plan and I look forward to getting back to it. Blowback is scheduled for spring of 2021 and Book Three a year later.
